History

In the olden days, there was a teahouse named “Yamatoya” along the street linking Nagoya with Kuwana. It had served green tea and sweets to travelers. In 1887, one of our ancestors, Sawataro, started running a Japanese restaurant there. Since he was very tall, people called him “Oo-sawa”, which means tall-sawa. That is why the restaurant was named Oosawaya. The current chief cook is his 5th generation descendant.
